New CE Marking directives for electrical, electronic and telecommunications industries

| July 14, 2014 | The new directives for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) 2014/30/UE, low voltage (LVD) 2014/35/UE and radio equipment (RED) 2014/53/UE will repeal their predecessors (2004/108/CE, 2006/95/CE y 1999/5/CE) in the second quarter of 2016.

AT4 wireless has updated its regulatory certification process to new requirements and fields of application defined by the new directives. The laboratory, has over 20 years of experience offering testing services for electrical, electronic and telecommunications industries, and continues providing a complete service to the industry testing compliance with the latest European requirements.

In general terms, changes in these three directives try to clarify concepts and make easier processes, simplifying and unifying previous modifications in a unique text, as well as specifying the obligations of different players involved in the go-to-market process. The most significant changes concerns the R&TTE directive (European Radio equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment), which will be repealed by RED directive (Radio Equipment Directive) and it will enter into force on 13 June 2016. Essentially, these changes concern to the directive scope.
