Purpose and Scope

1. This Directive provides a framework for the establishment of Community ecodesign requirements for energy-related products, in order to
ensure their free movement within the internal market.

2. This Directive provides for the establishment of requirements that the energy-related products covered
for the enforcement measures they must comply with in order to be able to be
introduced into the market or put into service. It contributes to the
sustainable development by increasing energy efficiency and
level of environmental protection, while increasing the security of energy supply.
