Scope of application
Area of application
1. This Regulation applies to new cableway passenger transport installations, to modifications to cableway installations for which a new permit is required, and to safety subsystems and components for cableway installations.

2. The following are excluded from the scope of this Regulation:
a) lifts referred to in Directive 2014/33/EU;
(b) cableway installations classified by Member States as historical or cultural heritage
which were put into service before 1 January 1986 and are still in operation, and which have not undergone any significant changes in their design or construction, including subsystems and safety components specifically designed for them;
c) facilities designed for agricultural or forestry purposes;
d) cableway installations serving mountain shelters or cabins intended solely for the transport of goods and persons specifically designated for that purpose;
e) on-site or mobile equipment designed exclusively for leisure and recreation purposes and not as a means of transporting people;
(f) mining installations or other on-site industrial installations used for industrial activities;
g) facilities where users or vehicles move through water.
